The curriculum we write is designed to be used by teams of students working together to produce solutions to problems.  The teacher is critical to this way of education but it is a different role than the traditional one.  Teachers need to be comfortable helping student groups assume  the responsibility for their own education. Teachers need to be comfortable helping teams take ownership of the problem and assuming different roles on their teams.

Teachers need to understand the problems presented to students and be familiar with the enabling learning activities which help student groups understand advance concepts they will need in their solutions. They also need to provide guidance about research, data recording and presentation skills.

It has been our experience that once teachers experience this form of teaching they find ways to incorporate the pedagogy into more traditional classrooms.  Getting started is usually the largest stumbling block. Each teacher will need to acquire some different skill sets and working through projects will point out places where students might struggle.
